2. HOW CAN I GET INEXPENSIVE OUT-OF-COUNTRY MEDICAL INSURANCE?
http://www.statravel.com
The International Student/Teacher Identity Card (can be purchased in the
U.S. through STA Travel) provides basic accident and sickness insurance
for travel outside of the U.S., including hospital stays, accident medical
expense, emergency evacuation, accidental death and dismemberment, repatriation
of remains, passport protection and baggage delay insurance. This is a
great inexpensive way ($22) to get basic medical coverage for our time
outside of the USA during our field study. The card is also useful for
gaining discounts for other aspects of international travel.
In 2002-2003 they
offer more extensive international insurance for roughly $130 for 25 days.
