Greetings!
As your school year draws to conclusion, it's probably more possible for
you to get the buzz from our upcoming expedition. I hope your planning
goes well and I look forward to learning with you all. Here are a few
items for your consideration.
1. It is now less than six weeks until the course rendezvous. Some of
you have not sent in your course fee balance. Please do so ASAP. You can
pay by check or by credit card at:

2. Please review the required personal gear and clothing list carefully.

3. Please be sure ALL the required forms are signed and sent to the ELI
office. This includes the CONFIDENTIAL MEDICAL HISTORY FORM signed by
your health care provider

7. We will rendezvous at the SEATAC baggage claim area for domestic United
Airlines. Outside the first door upon driving to the terminal if sunny,
inside if wet.
8. We ask each teacher team member to consider voluntarily making a 15
to 60 minute presentation to our team on a topic that is relevant with
the content and process learning objectives of the course. We encourage
powerpoint presentations (we have a quiet Honda generator, windows 2000
notebook computer, powerpoint and digital projector and screen, please
bring both cd and floppy disc for back-up, make sure it works on a windows
system) or any other format (including experiential) that you may prefer.
Examples of past learning activities have included lectures on AP environmental
science, effective use of outdoor and museum centers for achieving standards
performance, traditional ecological knowledge in the curriculum, Indigenous
resource management, using the environment as an integrating context,
specific lesson plans in environmental science, multi-cultural environmental
education philosophy and pedagogy, marine wetland ecology lesson plans,
critical theory and consumerism in education...best practices in....Please
email your idea by me before doing any work on it, just helpful for sequencing...
9. Please tell your family that in case of an emergency they should leave

Please let them know that you will be off the grid and it may take several
days for you to respond.
10. If you have questions I encourage you to direct them to me and I will
try to answer them ASAP. Please be aware that I am in the middle of my
summer field season, sometimes off the grid and so I ask you to be patient
if it takes a few days to get a response from me.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all in Hesquiaht territory. It shall
be a remarkable learning experience.

Greetings!
1. Here is our most current schedule. Please note that the time in Hesquiaht/Clayoquot
Sound Biosphere has not changed. Our route has changed to include the
Olympic Peninsula and the Victoria Museum.
24 July Seattle 1 PM airport rendezvous, camp on Olympic Peninsula
25 July Port Angeles-BC ferry, visit Victoria Provincial Mueseum, drive
to Tofino, arrive late afternoon
26, 27, 28, 29, July Hesquiaht Harbor, Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve
30 July mid day ferry to Tofino, Tofino area study hike
31 Study tour, Drive to near Seattle airport for next morning departures
1 August Early Morning Departures

Update" webpage to make sure you have received all the latest "beta"
(that's field lingo for information).
